The beginning of the year marks the need to reregister your pets. Bordentown Township requires licenses for both dogs and cats. They can be obtained through the Township Clerk’s office.

Renewal and new licenses: Dog licenses can be renewed throughout the month of January. In order to renew a dog license, a copy of the current rabies certificate (can not expire during licensing period) and a copy of the spaying/neutering certificate must be accompanied with the appropriate fee. New licenses can be obtained throughout the year by mail or in person.

Mail to: Township of Bordentown, Attention: Dog Licenses, One Municipal Drive, Bordentown, NJ 08505

1) copy of current rabies certificate (cannot expire during licensing period)
2) copy of the spaying/neutering certificate
3) appropriate fee, cash or check only
4) self-addressed stamped envelope

Fees: The fee assessed for a spayed/neutered dog is $8.00 and for an unspayed/unneutered dog is $11.00. Any license that is renewed after the January 31st deadline will be assessed an additional $5.00 late charge.

 

CAT LICENSES
Bordentown Township Ordinance #1990-23 requires all cats of licensing age (7 months) be licensed through the Municipal Clerk’s Office.

Licensing Period: One year licensing period starting April 1
to March 31.

Clifton Mill Rules and Regulations Page 6, Section 5 “Pets”

Dogs and Cats are to be licensed with all their shots as required by the Township Ordinances. Pets shall not be allowed to run free. All pets are to be kept on leashes while outside the unit/home. Owners are required to pick up and properly dispose of all pet waste. No pet is to be housed outside the unit. No more than two pets per household. Excessive barking will not be tolerated. For this purpose, excessive barking is defined as five consecutive minutes.

 

Bordentown Township Code 6.08.160 “Running at Large”

No person owning, keeping or harboring any dog shall suffer or permit it to run at large upon the public streets or in any public park, or in any public building, or in any other public place within the township, nor to be upon public streets or in any of the public places of the township unless such dog is accompanied by a person over the age of (12) twelve years and is securely confined and controlled by an adequate leash not more than six feet long.
